Today I want to talk about some options that most of the travelers don’t consider when is about visiting other countries. If you ask anybody, where would you like to go, 80% will say places in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. We will change this a little bit because there are some gems you should consider when you plan your next getaway.
In Central America, you will find countries like El Salvador and Honduras, known by the violence and the gangs that rule those areas. In the midst of all this, Costa Rica has been able to keep its borders secured and is a country worthy of your attention.
One of the greatest features of this country is its coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific oceans. Another great feature is that a quarter of its area is formed of protected jungle.
Before continuing with our next recommendation, below some tourist attractions you can’t miss if you go to Costa Rica:
- Manuel Antonio National Park
- Monteverde and the Cloud Forests
- Pre-Columbian Gold Museum in San Jose
- Osa Península and Corcovado National Park
- Tortuguero National Park
- Rincón de la Vieja National Park (Corner of the old lady)
Right after Costa Rica, we can find Panama, famous for the Canal, and is the link between Central and South America.
In the capital of Panama, Panama City, you can find modern skyscrapers, casinos, and nightclubs, in contrast with colonial buildings, which gives a special touch to this amazing connection between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Places you must visit when you go to Panama are:
- Ancon Hill
- Panama Viejo
- Isla Taboga
- Casco Viejo
- Amador Causeway
- Miraflowers Locks
Argentine provides a vast territory, that is prolonged vertically on the map, and that is the reason why in one country you can enjoy different climates, from tundra to polar. On this country, you will find the widest river in the whole world, the River Plate.
Argentina is surrounded by other countries worth to be mentioned, like Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. And we can say that, with Chile, is the last country in America.
If you like football (soccer), this country is passionate about their league, and that euphoria will stick to you, even if you are not a fan.
Below some recommendations when you visit Argentina. This country is big, so there are so many places you can visit, depending on your time and your taste.
- Perito Moreno Glacier
- Plaza de Mayo
- Talampaya National Park
- Nahuel Huapi National Park
- The Glaciers National Park
- Beagle Channel
- Fitz Roy
The country of the Amazonas, the biggest country in all of South America. The jungles are so deep that there are places that have never been explored. This is the only country that speaks Portuguese since was influenced by Portugal in the time of colonization.
But Brazil has so many other attractions that make it very interesting, like Rio de Janeiro, where you will find the famous Christ Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado. This statue stands 98 feet (30 meters) tall, and its horizontal stretched arms spanning 92 feet (28 meters). You can see it from everywhere, and going there, you will have a view you never will forget.
The places I recommend from Brazil are:
- Sugar Loaf, Rio de Janeiro
- Of course, the Cristo Redentor
- The Carnaval
- Amazon Rain Forests
- Salvador’s Pelourinho
- Pernambuco Beaches
The last recommendation of this post is this narrow country, right beside to Argentina, and it goes all the way to the end of the American continent.
The country is like another world, not famous, but has in recent years become an increasingly popular travel destination, mostly by nature lovers.
I wanted to finish this article with Chile because is a beautiful country that most travelers take it for granted. Chile is blessed with an abundance of national parks and conservation areas, where you can enjoy trekking and hiking.
The most important landmark is Easter Island, with its famous stone figures…yes, the big heads that you see in movies. But there are so many other places you have to consider:
- Torres Del Paine National Park
- Valle de la Luna and the Atacama Desert
- Santiago Cultural Capital
- Chile’s Lake District
- Pumalín Park
- Los Pingüinos Natural Monument
What do you think?
I hope you liked this article, and of course, there are so many other places in South America you could visit, like Colombia, Peru, etc. but these are my suggestions to give you a start point.
If you want to know more about one of this countries and the things to do, don’t hesitate in contacting me. The best thing of visiting Central and South America is that you can save more for the difference in the economy of this country, compared to the US Dollars.
